To meet the rising global demand for high quality medications, Biogen is planning to expand its production capacities. To this end, Biogen will build a new, next-generation biologics manufacturing facility on the Attisholz site in Luterbach near Solothurn, Switzerland.

This Biogen facility in Luterbach, near Solothurn, will be a state-of-the-art building that brings Biogen’s latest progress in biologics manufacturing technology to reality.

The facility combines Biogen’s latest technology in terms of fed-batch cell culture technology and high-performance purification. It will allow manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals at a large scale.

The facility is of a modular design, which provides flexibility to expand in the future if so desired. At this point in time, two manufacturing cells are being created.

In addition to production facilities, the plant will also house laboratories, office space, utility buildings and a warehouse.
