My research interests and strengths are mainly in three areas:

  1. Pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) modeling and simulation: PK/PD modeling is to use mathematic approaches to link (drug) dose regimens and circulatory (plasma or serum) exposures with therapeutic responses. Throughout various stages of drug R&D, building a good PK/PD model is essential for the proof of concept of (test article’s) mode of action, study designs and assessment of outcomes.
  2. Disposition of biologics: the absorption, distribution and clearance of biotherapeutics are somewhat different from small molecules. They are often affected by their size (molecular weight), glycosylation status and/or target engagement (target/receptor–mediated disposition).
  3. Kinetic relationship between systemic circulation and CNS: for most of drugs/nutrients, blood-brain barrier serves as main passage for entering CNS. Brain ISF/CSF drainage serves as main mechanisms out of CNS. The CNS exposure for a given medication is, therefore, affected by three factors: systemic exposures, the ability to cross BBB and effectiveness of ISF/CSF drainage.
